With the composition of this simple message,
a world began its decline into turmoil.

Coexisting with Earth as a parallel universe, the remarkably similar planet of Iado was currently in its year 1754, equaling Earth’s year of 2006 AD. The New York City of Iado was known as Geneva, complete with its own myriad skyscrapers, traffic jams, scant greenery, and enormous population. All varieties of beings inhabited the city– vampires, mortals, lycans, demons, living in a precariously arranged harmony. Rivalries existed, of course, but none that could be considered extreme.
This fragile equilibrium was abruptly shattered when the mortal mayor of Geneva was assassinated by a vampire. As the city was engrossed in confusion and fury, a new leader took the stage: a certain Vladislaus Dracula, a well-known billionaire who had somehow transcended the universes and became an Earthly legend. There were no elections. There was no opposition. The city was desperate for guidance, and Dracula was well-known, wealthy, and intelligent– an ideal leader. As easily as he had demanded the city’s uproot, he moved in to “set things right”. Things quickly became ugly as the people began to voice their opinions. However, any who even thought of opposing the new mayor were targeted by his personal assassin, and an entire band of spies monitored the city limits, preventing any from entering or leaving.
Two excruciating years passed. With the city beneath the thumb of Dracula and his regime, it was divvied up into multiple sections, segregating the races, severing families and friendships. In the wealthiest portion of the city “lived” mostly vampires, existing luxuriously and painlessly, enraptured by the benevolence of the mayor; those demons high enough in stature (or adoration for Dracula) were present here, too. In the poorest were the mortals and lycans, herded like cattle into ramshackle homes and ghettos, upper-rank vampires often making an appearance to murder someone, drain them of their lifeblood, or taunt them mercilessly. Each of the races intermixed in the commercial portions of the city, but any who attempted to transfer to a different “zone” were cheerfully executed.
However, two years could not have passed without any secrets.
The lycans and the humans have been separately plotting, joining in close-knit, extremely secretive groups scattered throughout the city. Both races are planning for the downfall of the vampires, and yet both are also expecting to fill the void themselves. It is vampire versus lycan versus mortal, and no one is completely safe, no one to be completely trusted.
Welcome to Nox.
Welcome to the Night Rivalry.
