In the beginning
[glow=purple,2,300]
[/glow]It was a beautiful sunny day and Lucinda sat on the front lawn. Her hair was pulled up into a high pony tail, her dress was black and short, just above her knee’s. It was strapless so her shoulders were bare. There was a nice breeze it made the trees sway slightly. She was one day off turning eighteen. You would think that she would be excited bit she wasn’t, not really. It was only another year older just another year towards death. She wasn’t looking forward to getting all old and wrinkly, having to where a diaper and having someone wipe your bum. She shuddered at the thought of something so horrible. She still had a long way to go before she was like that but just the thought of it scared her. The year was eighteen twelve and she really shouldn’t be dressed the way she was, as it wasn’t custom for a young woman to show so much flesh, lucky for her, her family was quite wealthy and her home was way out were no body really ever came. Her father still ranted and raved about it but she didn’t listen, she was comfortable in these clothes. She sighed as she heard her mothers voice calling out to her. She needed to get ready as her father was throwing her a party tonight for her birthday and the servants had been working day and night for the past week to have the house perfect for the arrival of her guests, well her fathers guests. She didn’t know anyone that was coming, she didn’t really care she loved parties and was going to enjoy herself either way. She loved having a good time.
Her mothers shrill voice again rang out and bashed around in her brain. Getting to her feet she dusted the dust and dried grass from the back of her dress and headed back toward the huge mahogany doors. The door man pushed it open for her and gave her a nod as she passed him, also throwing a second glance at her behind as the doors closed. The main hall looked fantastic, it was decorated in black, red and deep purple streamers all entwined with each other. Her parents could never understand her fascination with dark colours, she always worm black and red and on the occasion she would add a slight hint of pink to her attire. Just to make her mother smile. Lucinda loved her parents very much and she appreciated them because they both respected her decisions and the choices she made. Not very many people would get that treating from their parents these days. Her father wasn’t making her marry but she knew that he was inviting lots of young men hoping that one might catch her eye. She would pick one just to make him happy but she couldn’t bring herself to do such a thing. This was something he was just going to have to get over. She knew with time he would, that’s why she loved him so, he never held anything and always forgave. He said the mistakes we make only straighten the path you are on. Her mother was now in her ear telling her to bathe and change as the first of their guests would be arriving slightly after dusk and that wasn’t far away. Sighing she turned and headed for her bed chamber.
The servants had already drawn her a bath and were now busy getting her dress ready for her to get into. She hadn’t yet seen it as it was suppose to be a surprise from her mother. Lucinda was excited about seeing it but she also a little nervous, she prayed it wasn’t white or worse pink. She dis-robed and stepped into her bath to was wonderfully warm and relaxing she didn’t want to ever get out. That’s probably why her mother was rushing her now to get ready, there was still at least three and a half hours left before dusk, she just tool forever to get ready for any social event. Well why wouldn’t she her father was the talk of the whole town, the whole bloody state even, she couldn’t possibly look a mess for anything that might case a stir for her father, that would be just plain rude. Some time later a servant girl entered with her eyes to the floor, Lucinda never understood why they did that all the time, she wasn’t ashamed that she was naked, she didn’t really care if they saw her, they had the same thing as she did, didn’t they? After the servant girl gave Lucinda a message from her mother to hurry and left she got up out of the bath and wrapped a large white towel around her body and walked out into her bedroom a divider had been set up and her dress was behind it. She dried her body the servant girls hiding there gaze by looking the other way. She wrapped the towel around her semi dry hair and walked around behind the divider. She placed the under garment on and waited for the servants to ready her dress.
Her dress was beautiful. It had a black corset top with what looked like silver flames, with tiny little diamonds tracing the outside of each flame, with that what it looked like to her. Her mother knew she like fire and probably had the dress made to symbolise that. The bottom half of the was lay upon lay upon lay of fishnet petticoat there was no material at all. It circled around like a huge puff ball but it was absolutely beautiful. The servant slipped it on over her head and started tightening the corset at the back. She hated this part it felt like her ribs were going to crack. Finally they were finished and she moved out from behind the divider and stepped in front of the mirror she had on her wall. She looked at herself from all different angles and finally was ushered over her dresser where she was sat down and the servant when to work on her face and hair. Her face was almost flawless so nothing much was needed to be done, just a bit of eye make up and lipstick. Her head was then waved and placed half up and half down with a glorious pin to hold it up, a small amount of fringe was left hanging and the rest sat nicely around her face. She got to her feet and placed her feet into a pair of black high heels and examined herself in the mirror again. A servant girl came to the door claimed that her mother had sent her to tell Lucinda that the majority of the guests had arrived and that her presence was now needed. Sighing she grabbed her dress and headed for the door, in the hallway she could here the crowd below.
From the top of the stairs she stood unnoticed she watched all the people down in the main hall, chatting and sipping champagne. Many young men’s faces where among them, some where handsome and some where only so so. Taking a deep breath she started to ascend the staircase, many eyes now on her, there were a few oooh’s and whispering but she kept a strong face and continued. Once on the ground floor, many people crowded her congratulating her on her coming birthday, many men kissed her hand, she made a metal note to scrub her hands later. The ladies curtsied and smiled. Among the crowd she spotted a face, a man. He was handsome, his skin was pale but that only made him more mysterious, she tried to get closer for a better look but there was too many people around. She wanted to meet the pale stranger, he seemed to draw her in she wanted to look deeper into his eyes. Losing him completely she focused her eyes on the people around her, her father’s face was somewhere in there, he was reaching for her hand. She took her fathers hand and he dragged her away. He complimented her attire and how beautiful she was and palmed her off to the closest man. She danced and mingled and then danced some more all the while looking for that man. Finally she was alone and the party was still raging. She had a glass of champagne, her father only allowed her one. She scanned the room for the mysterious man, sighing with defend she looked at the champagne in her glass.
A voice entered her ears a deep entrancing voice. She looked over her shoulder and there stood the man, leaning against a white pillar in the shadows. He was mentioning her over, before her brain could think her feet were moving towards him, a smirk on his face. She stopped before him, she looked up at him his eyes where a strange hazel colour something she had never seen before, with out a word he took her hand and walked out the doors and into the night air. Next he was kissing her neck, licking her skin. She couldn’t move it was like her body was paralysed, she didn’t want to move anyway, strangely she wanted him to do it. She gripped his arms and closed her eyes, his lips made her sting tingle with pleasure she had never felt this way before… and she liked it she didn’t want it to end, he pulled her closer into his body roughly, she didn’t objected it made her feel good and she wanted him to do it again. Then! A searing pain and her legs gave way, he was holding her around her waist or at least she presumed he was, her body was numb. She tried to scream out in pain but there was no sound, she tried to push him away but there was no strength in her arms. Her eyes started to become blurry and heavy she struggle to keep them open, she could hear a faint growling in her ear, was it growling? What was he doing to her? Finally her eyes closed and everything was black.
Lucinda’s eyes snapped open everything was cold and quite she was lying on her side. Where was she? What had happened? She took a deep breath and tried to bring back some saliva as her mouth was bone dry. She sat up every bone in her body ached, she cracked her neck and placed her hand over her throat it was throbbing. There was a little light where ever it was she was. Her eyes adjusted and from where she was it looked like the main hall of her home. She looked down at her hands and they were covered in blood her dress was covered in blood She turned slowly and her eyes widened…. Blood…. There was blood every where and bodies there was bodies everywhere, everyone was dead. Her mother and father where dead. She opened her mouth and screamed. She screamed for hours, soon the sheriff came and pulled her from the floor, he was talking to her but she couldn’t here his words. She was taken away she was crying, her eyes closed again. She opened her eyes and she was in the hospital the sheriff was at her side. He explained what appeared to have happened, he asked her if she remembered anything she said no. Although that was only the half truth, she remembered what happened to her before she blacked out. He explained that her families fortune was left to her and that she was the only heir. A week later she discovered her fangs and her new found abilities, she didn’t want to believe it but it was true.
She withdrew all of what her parents had left her and she moved away never to return to her home again. She changed her name to just Lucy and she added Ann to her name her last name remained the same… Myers. She never touched any of her parents money for over a century, She worked in lousy night jobs and earned her way, she moved around a lot and never really made friends. The great depression was the hardest time for her, jobs where scarce and the men where filthy. She lived through the sixty, seventies, eighties and the nineties. The new century brought the thousands and she now lived in the outskirts of Los Muertes, she has one friend….Lillian her best friend. She is living of centuries of sitting money and her life is lonely. At least she got what she wanted right? Never to get old. Was it fate that the mysterious man showed up? Or was it just conscience? Who knows. Her life, her attitude had been completely turned upside down, she was no longer that girl that loved the attention, she no longer thought herself beautiful. She had seen two centuries of life go by without anybody to share it with, now was a little different, she had Lillian… and nothing was going to take her away.[glow=purple,2,300]
