The big war against Valentine is over for a long time now. Clary finished her shadowhunter education and is a very good shadowhunter now. She lives in peace with Jace and the Lightwoods.

But is this peace real peace? The normal demon war that they face doesn’t make them suspicious but there’s an army forming. There are some downworlders who don’t want the peace with the shadowhunters so they keep fighting against them and now against their own siblings too. They form an army against them, but everyone doubts that they have a chance against them. They even laugh about them. Make jokes about it.

But you should never underestimate a furious group with an even more furious leader. There’s one among them who wants revenge. He thinks he’s the only one who’s able to finish what Valentine started. Jonathan Morgenstern. Jace's attack didn't kill him. Somehow.

It seems like the mixture of demon and human blood made it impossible to kill him. No one knows that he survived. No one wants to hear the whispers about him being alive. No one believes the ones who say that they saw him. And absolutely no one knows what would happen if the whispers were true.

The Inquisitor leaned forward, his piggy eyes gleaming.
"What do you think of that story, vampire?"
"I think it’s insane", said Simon.
"And it’s got more giant holes in it than Kent Avenue in Brooklyn"
